When a new order is placed for a Giganet ELITE connection, they will carry out a desktop survey based on the network details they have. After they have the information they need, they will use this to decide what order category each order installation falls under.
The order categories are determined by what construction will be required for Openreach to install the leased line circuit into your premises. The order categories possible are as follows:
Category 1.1 – This is known as a ‘quick win’ installation and is applicable when there are no new infrastructure works required before Openreach can blow the fibre into the building. For more information on quick win installations and what it means for the order process, please click here.
Category 1.2 – This is the same as above, but they have decided that a survey will be required first before arranging to blow the fibre into the building.
Category 2.1 – This is when access cabling/tubing is required in an existing access duct.
Category 2.2 – This is when a new access duct is going to be required.
Category 3 – This is when a new spine extension is required.
Category 4.1 – this is when new core connectivity is required and if an intra-exchange tie cable is required.
Category 4.2 – This is when new core connectivity is required and if inter-exchange network is required.
Please note that although Openreach provide the order category after the desktop remote survey, they will only be confirmed and can easily change when the order gets to the physical survey.
