When you have placed your order with us, the sales team will pass this on to the provisioning team at Giganet. We will check that we have the initial details required from you and begin the order process. We will send an email to confirm that your order has been placed.
Once the order is placed with Openreach, we will get an update when Openreach have done their desktop checks on the order. They will provide us a target date that the engineers will be carrying out the work to get you connected.
With Giganet IGNITE orders, it’s unlikely that we would ever need to have an engineer physically visit your premises as the work they need to do will be at the cabinet. If you are having a new line installed then an engineer would be required to install and terminate it.
When switching from an ADSL connection to Giganet IGNITE the Openreach engineer will need to perform a jumpering task, which essentially unplug your line from the ADSL cabinet into the cabinet (usually next to the original cabinet) that’s enabled with Fibre to the cabinet. When they unplug the line from one cabinet to another, this is when you’ll have some downtime.
You will be asked to provide contact details for a primary and secondary contact, these will be passed on to Openreach as they usually will call when they’re on their way to keep you updated on the day and when you can expect downtime. They will also need the details if they run into any issues with syncing the line to try and resolve them on the day.
The Openreach engineer will call on the day to let you know when they’re on their way to the cabinet, they are also able to advise of any down time to expect.
Generally the lead time of Giganet IGNITE is 10 working days but please bear in mind this can differ.
